Australian Opal Doublet
Breathtaking with all the colors of the rainbow. This 26.97 carats of Australian Opal doublet is set in 14K Yellow Gold. This is the finest Australian opal crystal (where all the fire is), but it is too thin to support itself in jewelry. It is backed with other opal matrix (the rock) – Boulder Opal in this case, and sealed to prevent moisture loss. A solid opal of this quality would cost $40,000.00 or more, but could at any time dry up and turn cloudy. Yikes!
